![]() The Genesis by default did have a low pass filter but later releases like the original CD 2011 and the Android/iOS ports had no muffle sound ![]() It feels like every single song and sound effect has a low pass filter on it. Just got the Switch version and played it for a lil bit here is what I found: You can drop-dash out of the bubble-swallowing animation in Sonic 1, CD, and 2, but not in Sonic 3. There is no dust kicked up from the drop-dash in Sonic 1, CD, or 2, but Sonic 3 has it. Having BGM tracks with the wrong titles is so embarrassing. In Sonic 1 and 2 on Origins you will just dash to the right, while in Sega Ages Sonic 1 and 2 you will turn and go left. If you don't know what I mean, let's say you're rolling to the right, then jump and charge a drop dash while holding left. This is not how the move behaves in the Sega Ages' implementation and feels bad. In Sonic 1 and Sonic 2, you cannot drop dash in the opposite direction when executing from a jump-lock. It's pretty jarring to go jump-lock in 1, to no jump-lock in CD, to jump-lock in 2, then no jump-lock again. Sonic 3 has the rolling jump-lock removed. I had to back out of story mode, then go to the Sonic CD menu and change it, then return. ![]() It's annoying that Sonic CD defaults to USA soundtrack even though I'm on the Euro version (not that it should ever default to US anyway). The sound effect and functionality of the speed booster also fail to activate. ( Screenshot.) Carnival Night Zone: Act 2Ī level area can be outran, and cause instant death off-screen. Sonic 3 & Knuckles IceCap Zone: Act 2īoss boundary can be bypassed with Super Sonic's high speed, allowing you to break open the end-of-level capsule and move on to the next level without defeating the boss itself. Sometimes a close trail of rings collected fast results in most of the sound effect playing in the left or right channel, rather than always alternating channels akin to the original game. There seems to be a problem with the sound effect itself, quality seems reduced from its original counterpart.įurthermore, the sound effects don't pan correctly consistently. For the latter, it appears that Tails kinda drops back into the level very suddenly, rather than flying back in. When this anomaly happens, player character death or reaching end of level seems to resolve the issue. I've not seen this specific problem happen like this in any other public official release of Sonic 2. Gets pretty frequently stuck in the level designs of various Zones, rather than him de-spawning off-screen and flying / swimming back in, resulting in him jumping often and producing jump sound effects often.
